Transport and Telecommunication Institute was established in September 1999 as a non-state higher education institution grew itself from the Riga Aviation University (RAU), which replaced the original Aircraft Technical School, founded in 1919. RAU was the leading university in transport management, traffic education, electronics and computer science not only in Latvia, but also worldwide and one of a few high education institutions in Latvia with the international recognized diploma. TTI as a modern-day Institute has grown to become one of the bigger educational institutions in Latvia, but still takes great pride in its reputation among students for the friendliness and approachability of its staff, and for the provision of a well-structured and supportive learning environment. TTI has passed State Accreditation procedure in 2001 (LR License 04038, LR Accreditation list 032) and obtained unlimited accreditation term. The Rector of TTI is Dr.Hab.Sc.Ing., Professor Eugene Kopytov. The Vice-Rector for R&D and the President of TTI is Dr.Hab.Sc.Ing., Professor Igor Kabashkin. TTI offers a wide range of part-time and full-time study opportunities and encourage applications from students with different and diverse backgrounds. Our taught courses and research work are designed to relate theoretical study to real life situations so that they combine an academic with a vocational approach. Our aim is to provide students with world-class, job-ready skills for career success. Academic staff – 188 persons (129 from them – full-time employees). Number of students – 4000. Transport and Telecommunication Institute is one of the biggest non-state higher educational establishments in Latvia. TTI has been included into the Training Directory of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), thus TTI diploma is acknowledged by the leading companies all over the world. TTI is a modern, rapidly developing institution with a wide range of flexible, career-related programmes and a top quality-teaching environment. There are 3 faculties (Faculty of Computer Science and Electronics, Faculty of Transport and Logistics, Faculty of Management and Economics), There are 2 branches (Latgalian Branch of TTI in Daugavpils, 2nd city in Latvia, and TTI Education Center Austria & South Germany in Salzburg, Austria), 3 scientific divisions (Telematics and Logistics Institute, Quality Management Laboratory, Laboratory of Applied Software Systems), and other departments (TTI Information Centre, Department of Continuing Education, Studies Department, Doctoral Department, Library, Editing and Publishing Department, TTI Information Technology Academy). It offers the consistently high teaching standards across the subject spectrum teach a wide range of courses in computer science, electronics and telecommunication, management science, economics, transport logistics, aviation maintenance and others the most recently advanced. TTI provides educational programmes at a range of levels: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc), Master’s Degree (M.Sc), Higher Professional Education Level and Doctoral Degree. The European Community Course Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
used in TTI provides measuring and comparing learning
achievements of the TTI students. We offer a range of foundation
preliminary courses for students who need to bridge a gap
between their current level and one of our degree programmes.
Tuition in TTI is conducted in Latvian, Russian and English
Languages under the supervision of almost 130 teachers and
tutors, more than 60% of them have Doctoral Degrees. Leading
specialists of banks, transport, industrial and commercial
enterprises as well as foreign professors and scientific
authorities are invited to deliver lectures at the Institute. |
