AKMONAS - Completed Digital System of Benefit of Services of Routing and Distributions |

With view to the upgrading of their provided services, Hellenic Institute of Transport as part of the Hellenic Centre of Research and Technology (CERTH/HIT) a new system was created and developed in order to contribute to the SMEs and public transport needs’ satisfaction. The new system concerns the planning and designing of transportation routes and / or itineraries and the provision of the respective information related to them. The two new services are based on advanced algorithms and systems of geographic information through which the identification of the optimal routes is realized regarding both public and container transport companies in urban environment. Even though the two applications address different market domains, they are based on common methodologies and databases. These applications are: • The planning and designing of routes in order for the optimal programming and control to be achieved in the process of container handling and distribution in urban environment (the service addresses to all the enterprises that perform transport and distribution of goods in the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, taking into consideration the combination of different transport modes), • The planning and designing of combined transport using a combination of multiple modes of transport (the service addresses to all the coordinators and managers of public transport companies in urban environment and constitutes a communication platform between the transport provider – system and the passenger towards the enhancement of the electronic information service and the facilitation of the transport process) |

Added value for SMEs Provision of an electronic web based platform to transport companies in order to: • Better organise, control and coordinate their business activities • Upgrade the information system and their interconnection with their passengers and partners – improve provided customer service • Potential for the integration of a system concerning urban, suburban, national and international passenger and freight transport observation, control and coordination in the very near future (already pilot testing in passenger transport companies) The new system and services are still in the phase of pilot testing with the collaboration of several transport companies, so the added value for the SMEs is not defined yet. |
