![]() |

Added value for SMEs To get a better understanding of the context in which research funding for transport takes place in Europe and for the different transport modes, including concentration pattern in terms of actors (role and weight of big companies vs SMEs). Monitoring and assessing progress of the industrial research in the transport sector through a mapping of existing competencies in the EU-27, particularly highlighting the role of the SMEs in order to integrate their innovation potential. Analysing barriers and weak players in the field of RTD as applied to SMEs in the transport sectors Encouraging SMEs and RTD smaller actors to get involved on RTD programmes by training and educating them. Research-funding instruments and other policy support instruments available to SMEs will be identified. Different funding instruments and its potential to promote SME participation will be reviewed. The mapping of European R&D competencies in the transport sector, including analysis by sector and country (all EU-27 states) might be an important tool for SMEs to identify potential partners and establish partnerships for market-oriented research and demonstration projects. Reporting on SME barriers in Transport sector might be an important tool to help the European Commission and other potential funders to improve their funding rules and mechanisms. Indeed Market-Up’s work will grant them a better knowledge of these issues, including important analysis of what research-funding instruments are available to SMEs, as well as the barriers these organizations face. |
